WHAT D.C.F MEANS TO ME.
by Mary Jones Newtownabbey Branch.
D.C.F. is a meeting held in Abbots Cross Congregational Church Hall on the second Saturday of each month.
D.C.F. is very important to me and I do not like to miss a meeting unless I was sick.
We have wonderful speakers and lovely music.I help when we have items to sell and when we have a summer holiday I take care of the money.
I know D.C.F. is one big family with folk being dedicated to helping the disabled.
The caring and friendship we have is marvellous.
I have met lots of people and some are going on holiday with me to the Holiday home at Newcastle.
My friends Eileen, Olive, Carol, Margaret, Ena and I are going down to the home at Easter where we will meet up with our friends from Bangor, Belfast and Fermanagh.
We have a lovely time and look forward to each other’s company. If I had not gone to D.C.F. I would not have met these people. Mrs. Shaw and Mrs. Mairs, our treasurer, are very dedicated to D.C.F. Mr. and Mrs. Houston have been there for years.
As a family of God’s people we can worship together and have times of fellowship.
Every year we look forward to our outing which takes a lot of organising.
We enjoy having a day out as some folks don’t get out much.Sadly this year we will not have a summer holiday because we do not have enough helpers.
We need younger folk as our lady helpers are getting older and will maybe soon join the disabled??So I would say that D.C.F. is a marvellous organisation.
If you are feeling down when you come to the meeting you can feel the Lord’s presence there and your burden is lifted.
I thank God for the day that I went to D.C.F. The Lord led me there.Dedication, Caring and Friendship, That is what D.C.F. means to me.
The Lord bless thee and keep thee.
Blessed be the name of the Lord.Mary Jones.
