Profile of East Belfast Branch

After seeking the Lord's help and guidance, East Belfast Branch commenced in September 1965.

Douglas Wade brings the following profile of the branch.

MEMBERSHIP

Our membership stands at 43, of these 9 are wheelchair users.
We also have quite a number who use some form of walking aid and others have arthitis of varying degrees.
We have three Social Services buses and the drivers are all helpful and kind.
Also several of the helpers use their private cars.
Though we have a dedicated group of helpers, there is always room for a few more.

ACTIVITIES

A programme is made up of speakers and singers for the session, September to May, and each member receives a printed card with all the details.
Each month we have a Bible Quiz which is enjoyed by all.
At Easter time and Christmas each member receives a card.
Cards are sent to those who are ill and in hospital, and also to bereaved relatives.

OUTINGS

The outings in May are varied each year.
Last year (2002) we enjoyed the day in Newcastle and afterwards we relished an excellent dinner at Mourne Presbyterian Church, Kilkeel.
This year, God willing, we are going to the Newtownards Shopping Centre, then on to Millisle Baptist Church for our meal.
An epilogue is given at the end of the day.
